Lovely coverage and I can't believe your photographs! Thanks for sharing - my iphone didn't do quite as well in capturing the event but I attempted as best I could to describe the experience on my blog at www.la-art-theory.com - it was a truly mesmerizing performance!

[...] Gabrielle Bakker’s work at first glance looks like it’s from long ago, but then upon closer inspection you realize that it’s from today because of the details like the biohazard symbols on the Geisha’s dress and the vibrance of the color. Her work on display at Davidson Galleries’ booth in the LA Art Show also reminds me of culture jamming – taking elements from Picasso and Botticelli but mixing them up with all the techniques and influences of today. *NOTE: The painting above is “Geisha Icon” by Gabrielle Bakker.
[...] Bates Wilson was one of the only artists to have a solo exhibit inside the LA Art Show. And his metallic sculptures of steam punk fish caught everyone by happy surprise. They are massive, about 10 feet tall, and hang from hooks in the ceiling – so there were only about 3 or 4 of them that were able to fit in the space. However, the fact that he could make such an impact with only 4 pieces, whereas everyone else had 20+ is something to be noted! [...]

[...] Axiom Contemporary has an exhibit of bold artists in its booth at the LA Art Show. So, you can’t miss their display featuring the work of James Georgopoulos, who uses guns and cameras from famous films like Scarface and Pulp Fiction to make visually striking work. They definitely have one of the most exciting booths at the event. *NOTE: The paintings of guns and film cameras below are by James Georgopoulos. [...]
