Bennet Roberts juries Simulacrum at Los Angeles Art Association
Simulacrum is the name of an awesome group exhibit at the Los Angeles Art Association, which was juried by Bennet Roberts of Roberts & Tilton gallery. Pieces in the show range from vacuform sculptures to paintings and everything in-between – including an incredible paper cut-out that involved the entirety of a novel. The space was packed to the brim with artists and their guests who were proudly introducing their work to one another. And although I liked nearly everything in the show, except for a canvas that I’m pretty sure was simply painted white, my favorite was the hilarious print by Ryan McIntosh that said “BAD ART” that featured arrows point to the sides of it. He also had another piece that said “THESE ARTISTS ARE SELF-TAUGHT AND IT SHOWS” but it was placed in a private office in the gallery – so be sure to ask to see it when you visit the gallery space on La Cienega Blvd.
