Nye + Brown featured two of the artists from their booth at the NADA Art Fair in the gallery’s first exhibit of 2012. As you walked into their Culver City location, you were surrounded by crisp and clean sculptures made out of urethane by Peter Alexander for his exhibit Drip. Although, the pieces really reminded me of long rectangular slates of sea glass because of their subtle color tones and translucency, which was awesome! Then, in a second room of the gallery was a separate exhibition by the artist Brian Wills titled Unwound – which for the record had the coolest showcard of the night: red ink on a sheet of milky plastic [see below]. Brian’s pieces from afar look like paintings, but when you get reasonably close it’s revealed that they’re actually made out of hundreds of pieces of thin string laid out over a board.
