I think it would be fair to say that Rachael Lee Hovnanian was the queen of Art Platform. Since, in addition to her exhibit at the Leila Heller Gallery she had sculptures on display in the lounge and even models walking around the entire show as part of a performance piece. Rachael told me that she grew up in Texas where girls were extremely focused on trying to win beauty pageants because it allowed them to be able to pay for college and that these girls influenced her work. The ultimate crowd pleaser, besides Size 4 of course, was a classic arcade game with one of those grabber hands – or the claw if you happen to be a little green three-eyed martian from Toy Story. If you were able to snatch one of the trophies you were allowed to keep it for free, with the catch being that of course it was close to impossible to actually win one – just like at a real arcade.
