Cardi Black Box gallery had an original work of art by Ashley Bickerton on display in their booth at Art Platform which drew my attention like a bullet. The work was more vibrant than any other piece in the exhibition and as one of the gallery directors said it themselves “Bickerton’s work is extremely captivating to the eyes.” The centerpiece is a manipulated photograph that was printed onto a board which had wonderful holes carved into it. And in order to really top his piece off with a cherry, Bickerton created an original frame – although I’ll admit I felt a bit like a fool when I asked who created the work, only to realize it was written in huge CAPITAL letters at the top. Cardi Black Box is located in Milan, so I highly suggest you go visit this piece in person before they fly back home.
